Ambassadors from six countries visit Reformation sites in central Germany

"To make the Reformation anniversary 2017 known abroad, too"

Reformation sites in Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt are the destinations of a journey of diplomats from five European countries and Australia, which began on Thrusday. Foreign office state minister Cornelia Pieper (FDP, Free Democrats) said at the beginning of the excursion that it will introduce the Reformation anniversary 2017 to a larger general public abroad. The anniversary allows to remember the common European cultural history, "especially with Germany's important partner countries".

After a visit to the Wartburg near Eisenach and a meeting with Thuringia's State Prime Minister Christine Lieberknecht (CDU, Christian Democratic Union), a presentation of the projects for the anniversary "Luther 2017" was scheduled on Friday. In the afternoon, State Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (CDU) expects the diplomats from Denmark, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, France and Australia in Wittenberg. The tour to the Luther City includes visits to the Castle Church, the City Church and the Luther House.
