Today, the Evangelical Church in Germany calls itself "Church of Freedom" – yet, or again? Or in spite of everything? When we talk about freedom today, in the theme year 2011 of the Luther Decade with the topic "Reformation and Freedom", is it the same freedom as that of Martin Luther?

"When Martin Luther talked about freedom, he thought of a problem that is not really urgent any more for us today, not even for us Christians", says the publicist Robert Leicht. "But what we perceive as our freedom today was not visible to Martin Luther at all", he continues to conclude. This is an opportunity to find out what Protestant freedom means – in the past and in the present.
